To the goblin,
"Very quiet now, sit there like a scared rabbit. It is most important
that you do not move at all."

I take a moment to bind his hands behind him, and his feet.

To the others,
"Better than on the cave floor, but still not good. I want to
secure this prisoner, and advance over that bridge. We need
to clear that room first, which will be a good place to store this
guy. We will assume that the room it not empty, so take
positions. I'm going through first."

Walking over to the door, I look back to make sure people are
ready, then open the door and scan the room.

To Sealamin:

Moreover, adding everything up starting from your first reflexions on the topic of hypnosis (re: Orak the dwarf), the vampire and then the animals, you further recall that vampires have some power to hypnotize others, not only animals but other creatures too. Well, the creature's power over animals goes even beyond hypnosis, but it's in the same vein.

********

With the goblin tied up, you open the door next to you and see a rectangular room with a pair of crude pallets on the floor, a few spears lying against the wall, clay pitchers and plates, clothes lying in a corner, a chest near one pallet, and a small shrine near the wall opposite the door. The shrine includes a tapestry nailed to the wall depicting a pretty darn ugly goblin, a plethora of very small to medium-sized bones hanging from the ceiling on strings and carved and painted, a couple of small braziers that are not lit and small tools on an ankle-high table. The place smells of incense and sweat and humidity and a bunch of other foul smells you can't - and would rather not - readily identify.

There is no one in the room.

Seeing the room actually is empty, I walk out, grab the goblin, and drag
him inside. Over to the back of the room, where I fix his bindings to whatever
I see that looks strong enough to hold him.

"Sealamin, Jack, Sorrin, search the room, check the goblin's bindings"

I signal to Fea, and walk out the door.

"I need you to ghost over that rope bridge and take a look around.
Don't get spotted. Check the cavern below you as you cross"

I check for additional exits from the room and then search the chest near the pallet

You pull the goblin into the room and attach him to one of the pallets which is the best you can see. He could probably move around if he really wanted to, but forced to crawl since he's tied up hands and feet and pulling the pallet around, you think he would earn it if he managed to get even beyond that door.

You see no other exit from the room. As for the chest you are about to open it when you notice... A string handing from its lid and extending underneath it. You are about to open it anyway when you notice that the string is taut... The chest is trapped.

"Guys there seems to be a trap on this here chest.
Does anyone have any skills disarming traps or should we wait for Fea to return and ask him to try it?"

Fea glides out of the room barely making a sound grateful that he is able to scout without Jack and Sealamin to draw attention.
Over the rope bridge to the other side searching in all directions, including the cavern below, Fea makes his rounds and then returns and debriefs Discidio on what he saw

Fea walks over the the rope bridge and looks on one side then the other to see the cavern sloping dowards towards the north underneath him. He doesn't quite see the northern end of the cavern, but he's under the impression that it leads to a dead end. He notices nothing out of the ordinary.

The rope bridge appears solid enough and he crosses over to the other side. There, he lands in a corridor that elbows South. There is a passage West about midway down that corridor and it's easy for him with the light coming from it to conclude that it leads to the area where Drakthar made his speach according to the goblin you interrogated.

I'm not sure how far you intend Fea to scout so I'll stop here for the time being. If you wish to go any further before returning to report, let me know.

***********

Meanwhile, in the acolyte room/shrine, the goblin, tied to the pallet, half-turns towards Discido and speaks (still in goblin): "My Lord, surely you will not leave me tied here. Perhaps you should untie me and let me go, I will not betray you, I swear on my life!"

"Leave it for now. Last thing we need is more trouble. Lets let Fea take a look
at it. He's no thief, but probably the best we have with traps"

I walk over to the goblin, and crouch near him.

"You have made a mistake. You only get the one. I am not interested in your
begging for a better lot. Everything that comes out of your mouth will be something
I *want* to hear, something that will help us here. Also, you will request
permission to speak. I don't want to worry that leaving you alive is a mistake"

The goblin looks at Discido with large eyes, his half-smile disappearing from his face. His eyes uncontrollably twitch in Jack's direction a couple of times. He's sweating profusely.

Fea moves up to gain a perspective on what is around the elbow being VERY careful to remain unnoticed.
With that information he returns and debriefs Discidio

"Fea, you're getting a workout today. Take a look at this chest.
We can tell its trapped. Can you tell how hard it would be to
open?"

Fea

Postby SunTzu2 on Fri Mar 12, 2010 3:38 pm

Fea approaches the chest cautiously, "I hope this thing doesn't shoot fire like we've seen before", he winces at the thought. "Stand back everyone. Sorrin, be ready to use some of that healing power." Crouching down beside the chest, Fea examines it closely and then if he can figure out how, tries to disarm and open it.

Spoiler:
I assume a perception check to examine and a thievery check to disarm/open? I don't know if my +1 item bonus applies but I've included it anyway. ;-) I'm sure you'll disregard it if needed.

Perception = 1d20 + 10 = 10 + 10 = 20

Thievery = 1d20 + 5 + 1('necklace of keys' bonus) = 13 + 5 + 1 = 19
